Get Our Pit Bulls Ready For A Loving Home

Saving pit bulls isn’t done by only adoption! Foster families play a big part in our program! Make A Stand Bully Rescue (MASBR) is a Texas based organization specializing in pit bull and bully-breed adoptions. As a “no-kill” rescue, our program strives to place healthy, social pit bulls and bully breeds in adoptive forever homes. But before we can place our pit bulls and bully breeds in adoptive homes, they reside with trained, volunteer K9 Foster Custodians.

K9 Foster Custodians provide love, training, and care to our program’s rescued pit bulls. We believe that our volunteer K9 Foster Custodians are our front line in saving lives. We work with our foster families on finding the right foster fit for each home. Then, we provide all necessary supplies. This includes funding all veterinary care and ensuring each dog has what he/she needs to thrive, while we carefully screen for the right adoptive home.

Foster Families Save
Shelter Dogs' Lives

There are an estimated 1 million pit bulls euthanized annually in America.

Pit Bulls and bully breed type dogs are the most euthanized type of dog in our country’s municipal shelters. Our dedicated staff works collaboratively with Texas shelters to save pit bulls and bully breed dogs facing imminent euthanasia. While we receive, on average, 100 “rescue requests” per week from our shelter partners, we only average 120 intakes annually.

We only commit to a shelter pit bull if we have all the resources and tools needed to help the dog thrive. One of the resources we never have enough of are compassionate individuals and families interested in joining our team of volunteer K9 Foster Custodians!

The Power of Our
K9 Foster Custodians

K9 Foster Custodians commit to housing a dog (or multiple dogs) and begin the process of helping their foster pit bull(s) heal from past traumas and prepare for future adoption. Upon intake, all MASBR dogs receive quality veterinary care to address their individual health and physical needs. Then the dogs go to their K9 Foster Custodian where their emotional, mental, and physical needs are worked on and fulfilled.

MASBR works closely with each K9 Foster Custodian to ensure that any additional physical, health, training, socialization, medication therapy, and/or behavior modification needs are also evaluated, documented and fulfilled. The goal being to develop social, balanced, adoptable pit bulls and bully breeds who can be placed in traditional home environments.

K9 Foster Custodians save two lives with every dog they welcome into their home: the dog immediately pulled into rescue; and the dog who filled the empty shelter run.

How Fostering
Through MASBR Works

The first step in pit bull fostering with MASBR is to determine what time, space, and resources your home environment has available to a dog in need. We are flexible with our families and have opportunities geared for most! Beginning at temporary/overnight puppy placements and escalating all the way to senior, hospice pit bulls needing a final place to rest.

We take pride in our ability to provide all needed supplies to our foster families. As a foster with MASBR we will cover the following:

Additionally, all veterinary expenses for the pit bulls and bully breeds in our program are covered by MASBR donors.

Can't Foster In Person?
Virtually Foster!

If your personal situation does not permit fostering in the traditional sense, consider virtually fostering instead! Through our new Virtual K9 Foster Program, individuals who are active on social media get partnered with a foster dog in our program with the goal of getting dogs adopted!

If This is the Adventure for You,
then Let Us Be Your Foster Family!

Upon submission of your pit bull foster application, you will receive contact from MASBR Director of Operations, Amanda Dowell. She will be your primary point of contact through the application process. If approved to join our foster family, Amanda will continue to be your primary point of contact, in addition to your local supply hub (i.e., families who have bulk foster supplies for your use, located in your area). If your application to foster a pit bull is denied, Amanda can provide feedback, upon request.

Thank you for your interest in fostering a Texas bully; we hope we are the rescue for you!
